Virtuemart - doesn't seem to work with Black & White template

Help! I really want to use the Black & White template for a Virtuemart site, but the template seems to be interfering with Virtuemart.

To start with, the categories are not shown on the home page when B&W template is set as default - but they do if I set the template to JA_Purity.

I could just about cope with that if necessary by doing a work around with modules etc. However, the major problem is that with B&W template, the categories appear to have no products in them!!! When I switch the template back to JA_Purity, the products reappear.

I have seen that others have got the Black and White template working with Virtuemart. Can anyone tell me how that can be done please?
