update or not to update???

hello,

built a site on sporter a few months ago but hasnt been made public yet. got the call today that we should be going live next week.

so my question is should i update all the modules, templare, etc? seems obvious that the answer should be a yes.

but if i do update will i lose all the fine adjustments i have made to the configuration of the modules and the template?

how do i update? some just say replace files but if i replace wont i lose configuration?

It all depends. Modules should have write the configuration in database so You won't loose the settings, but not all modules works that way. Also what about the update od database if occured.

My advice is to make a copy of the site, update the files by overwriting it via ftp and see what happened.
