Category Pages In Sporter

How do you delete the massive folder icon from the category page? Also, its terribly clunky to have it load all the articles, is there a way to have it simply show a list of articles in the category instead of the entire thing? An alphabetical list would be much better. How would I do this?

Here is an example: http://80percentman.com/joomla/index.ph ... Itemid=124

Hello,

when you create a net categoy in K2 there you can choose the Cat Image and and in the category setup you can choose the size of it.

The other thing, with the listing I would like also :) Have to look at the K" Forum

Hi,

you dont have to be a coder (neighter am I) it is realy simple to do.

1.) the Category Image (Folder Icon) is a standard from K2. All you need to do is create your own image and upload it in your category. Or if you dont want any at all use teh settings in K2 Gategory to disable it. Ther you can also disable the Item (Article) Image and have a lot of contol on how the Categorys are displayed.

Yeah, but if you disable them the image goes away, but the text and the article count remains, and doesn't really look that pleasant.

I was able to turn this off on most categories by editing the menu item to say "no" where it asked if it should include child categories. That worked to turn it off on the main menu link and the first level of child menus, but not on the second level of child menus. If anyone knows how to solve this, I would really like to know.

Surely someone out there knows a way to get rid of these links and to save the page formatting that I want. Aside from clicking "no" on include child categories to exclude these links, I also switch my layout to 10 leading and none of anything else. But as soon as I click save it reverts right back to the default setting, so my pages are not being rendered the way I want.

Any help at all on this? I also posted on the K2 community, but apparently there's too much spam being posted there for anyone to even see it. I've posted twice and it was on page 2 within minutes each time.

Somebody...anybody....heeeelp!! :silly:

First of all, thank you for looking into this. I honestly do appreciate that. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply, but I have been dealing with a family crisis and haven't been able to get back on track until now.

Having said that, yes, I would absolutely like it removed. What is weird is that it is removed from some pages, but not others, and I have no idea why. Examples...

http://www.scores.fm/v2/

Hover over "Basketball" then select "NBA". You'll notice that there are none of those links at the top, and the formatting is properly set to 10 leading and 0 others.

Then click on Baseball (or pretty much any other link). You'll see that the links are there, and the formatting is the default structure. Even after I have changed this, it instantly reverts back.

Why do the changes take effect on some pages and not others? At first I thought it was because maybe it had something to do with whether or not a category had sub-categories, so I added sub-cats to the ones that weren't accepting the change, and it still doesn't work.

I've turned off the category images in K2. I've made sure everything related to displaying categories is set to no/hide. I've gone into each menu and set it to "no" on display child categories and then changed it to only show 10 leading, and bam, as soon as I click save it goes right back to the way it was.

How do I get rid of those category links? I've tried everything, and there is no help to be found on the K2 forum. I know it can be done, because as you can see, I did it on some pages (such as NBA). Honestly, this thing is driving me crazy, but I can't leave it the way it is because it looks really ugly with those links and the default layout/format.

Please help if you can. I would really appreciate it.

Hi

It's a list of item categories. All can be configurable in K2 when You edit category. On the right site You will have all elements from K2 pages and You will be able to remove it.

First of all, thank you very much. I think you put me on the right track with that. Although I'm completely unsure of how I got them turned off on some pages without doing that.

However, now I have an entirely different problem...

I opened a category to see if I could find the section you were talking about. I opened the category parameters and changed them all from "Show" to "Hide" and applied the changes. Then I went to preview the site.

Unfortunately, when I did this, it somehow increased the width of the front page, causing some elements to be out of alignment (see attached image).

scores-width.png

I went back to the K2 category and put everything back to "Show" and resaved the changes, but the front page did not go back. I have no idea why choosing to hide the category links would have changed anything on the front page, but I know 100% for certain that it wasn't like this before making that change, and it was the only change I made.

It's 2:30am locally and I'm too tired to get into the mode of tracing this down. If you have any ideas I would appreciate it, otherwise I have a feeling I'll be spending a good portion of the day trying to sort this out.

The more I get into K2 the more confusing I find it. :S

Nevermind. That must have just been something funky going on with firefox. I closed the browser and then went back after relaunching a fresh browser window, and everything looks A-OK.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I'm not sure how I overlooked those options, and I'm still totally confused by how I got it turned off on some pages without doing that, but I'm happy to know that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll get it all wrapped up tomorrow.
