Hi,

I have the Sporter template running very slow and takes about 8 seconds to load the front page.

I tried to use yslow plugin and there are some issue but the issues are almost the same even when I visit the same template from demo.gavick.com

Please can you guide me on what I can do to make the site faster ?

Thanks

Hi

I think the load time is quite normal. Maby some javascript processes are slowing it down, but that something You cannot replace with anything :(

It loaded on my super slow mobile internet in 10s so it's a very good result.

maybe this project can help you to optimize your site:

http://code.google.com/intl/de/speed/page-speed/
there are also some joomla optimazion-extensions like
JA Compress.

nice greetings

Hi,

They are tools to see if the site has nay errors or not.

I tried to install some compression tools onto the templates but I had to remove them cause I got some issues with them installed.

Thanks

Test your site here, it uses Page Speed and YSlow to grade your site:
http://gtmetrix.com/

Just go through the list and add extensions that fix the problems with compression and static content. There are some changes you can make to your htaccess file to get higher scores in some areas as well.

There's no reason you can't get into the 90-92% without using CDN to host your images, higher than 90-92% if you host your images with a CDN

The sites we build using the T3 v2 framework get into the low 90's for both YSlow and Page Speed

Sporter itself is not the problem. I'm have a sporter template site too, www.totalbodyrevolution.ca and it loads in 2-3 seconds. There are a number of other factors such as how "busy" your home page is, database connectivity (localhost vs remote db server), excess extensions to name a few.

Have you enabled caching and compression? Have you asked your web host for assistance? A good host will help!

Hi

@edenadmin

On header2 column, you have a flash banner. This flash should have this code instead:

Code: Select all
<embed width="311" height="125" menu="true" loop="true" play="true" wmode="opaque" src="/bay/flash/countdown.swf" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash">

or else register module will be behind this flash.

Cheers ;)

About the loading speed, i see something like 2.7MB... that's a lot.
You can try optimize by decreasing images weight and by enable css and script compression on template parameters.

Also i see constant reference to this page ../bay/flash/Release.txt

yes it's definately slow, you could use the built in css-compression & cache (in the template settings), the "flash code" and amy other possible optimizations,

the compressor mentioned above is pretty dangerous, sometimes it seems working for later giving problems

First of all I would like to thank everybody for their help :)

I tried a lot of things and I optimized the images and also compressed css but the site still seems to be slow to load.

Is there anything else I can use ?

Thanks

Hi,

Just a question. Are you hosting your page in a Microsoft IIS Server?

I had the same problem 6 months ago. Very very ...veeeery slow loading....:S The server was IIS web server / Windows.

At the moment I revert to Linux/Apache the problem solved. :)

See what I mean here travelfree.gr (well is in Greek).

Hi

All T3 based templates using best site speed solutions You can get, so if You're sure the content is not making it slow than the only one to blame can be the hosting.
