Error Quickstart installation Sporter

I went through the quickstart installation of the Sporter template, but got this error message :

Warning: Unterminated comment starting line 52 in /home/mydirectory/public_html/libraries/joomla/application/application.php on line 52

Fatal error: fatal flex scanner internal error--end of buffer missed in /home/mydirectory/public_html/libraries/joomla/application/application.php on line 52

I wish I could help, but I am not familiar with this error. Have you tried to wipe it out and reinstall from scratch? Maybe you're missing a file somewhere.
