Load Time Revisited - Cache

Ok, so according to firebug, my most recent page load took 1 minute 15 seconds (and yes, I have caching turned on in Joomla). That is just not acceptable, so I'm scrolling through firebug to try to identify the problem.

Under Net >> All, the first item on the list is "GetPreview" (with preview being the name of the folder I've dropped this site into), which says it took 52 seconds. That kind of blew me away, and in looking at it, it looks like that is for loading up everything except the images (but maybe I'm misunderstanding that). But here's what I found interesting/strange...

If I click the plus sign to expand this, then click the cache tab, it tells me the cache expires on December 31, 1969. Basically, the cache is expired decades before it is even created, so I dont know if there even is a cache now.

I opened several other areas in Firebug, such as GetK2, and they all say cache created Aug 24, cache expires Aug 26. As far as I can tell, only this one area says December 31, 1969.

I'm not sure if this is even a problem that contributes to the slow load time, but if it is, I also don't know how to correct it. Can someone please shed some light on this for me?
