Left Column CSS error

Hi

I have a weird problem, I am developing a site and everything is working 100% apart from the left column, no matter what module type, main menu etc. It will not appear in the right place, it is being pushed under the main content, I have tried left 1, 2 top & Bottom and all the same, the right columns are perfect.

I have not made any changes to the CSS governing the width of the main content/article and have only used the dimension tool in the template admin to change column widths ~ this make no difference either, no matter how thin or wide I make it the left column will not display correctly.
