Module Custom HTML article linking not working

Help! I must be missing something simple. I am using University theme, Quickstart installation. I am attempting to get article links to work in in the Custom HTML module in position "sidebar" as well as Custom HTML in position "bottom 5". I have created articles & want to link them from the Custom modules. I have tried to use the article function at the bottom of the content area as well as type the article page information into the link insertion at the top of the content area. I save & then look to see if it worked & NO, it does not using either method. When I check the link dialogue box, there is nothing in it. Thanks for any insights.

Hi,
hard to say.
I always uses JCE to add links to articles or menu items inside.
I'm sure we didn't cut off link feature.
But without link to your page I can only guess.
