Is it possible to give each "tab" a different background color ?

Is it possible to add a "News order" selection on Author, incl. ascending and descending.
This website is for a travel agency and I want some kind of "duration" ordering.
I created multiple users in the administrator for example: "2-4 weeks" and "more than 2 months".
