The issue was always the same: after installation, Global Configuration and several other config pages were inaccessible and returned a 500 error every time. Always the same pages.

One person in the world had a similar problem. In his case:
Found out that some files (librariesjoomlahtmlgrid.php - as one of them) in the libraries folder have become blank?
I checked that directory and found that in my case access.php was zeroK instead of 8K. So copied over the file again from the original unzipped Quickstart and everything was fine for the first time ever.
I suspect that there is a bug at play here, because as I say I have uploaded the files four times using two different FTP clients, and always got the same error - despite the file in the original being fine.
