Image background trouble

I am having issues with inserting an image where I want to align center but the text below wants to push up along side it. I see there is a class added to the image "gkImgBorderTop" & "gkImgBorderBottom" and I think that is what is causing my trouble.

How can I add an image to an article without the templates background on the image being applied to it?

I found the issue is with the GK Image Border plugin. However I am not able to get into the plugin to see if there is any setting I can manage. I get an error when I try to open the plugin, so I have it disabled for now waiting for any information someone can pass along on this...

Hi

If it's about the frontpage images from NSP module than You should set the image to float:none and remove the margin-left values in module settings. Maby setting the image bigger to cover the whole width of the module is also the solution.

No, my problem is that the links dont go to the article and it just refreshes the page. I am not sure why but if you hover over a link it points to 17-recipe folder I guess since that is the folder they are in. However if you click on a menu link such as the sub menu for Disc Golf Tournament the link is totally different (2011-04-19-12-28-43/disc-golf-tournament). I have no idea how this linking is working in Joomla 1.7 but it is very odd for sure.

Hi

The oldest joomla issue ever :)

First of all. Please enable using mainbody on frontpage in template settings (Show mainbody on frontpage opton).

You need a page where articles can be open, so the best option is to create a link with category/section view type in menu (doesn't have to be used on site). SO all articles from this category/section will be open there.

Thanks, that put me on the right track but what I had was Mainbody only setup for the template, which is identical to the demo site. For the sake of experimentation I changed this up using the other three settings which of course did not produce the results I was looking for. Then I created the category as you suggested and it started working.

I have been working with Joomla for 4 years now and it might be the oldest issue for you but I have never had to create a category view on the site in order for this to work with other extensions that create similar results. Not to mention this method blows my SEF rules by adding recipe-category to the single article view. Something is so very wrong with the way that 1.7 works with menus.

I do thank you for helping me though but there has to be a better solution that works without the added work of creating a category view that is not linked to the actual article. That makes no sense at all why this should even work...;)

BTW, that is a beautiful little girl, you must be very proud...;)

Hi

Thank You. I'm really proud of my daughter :)

This problem as You have noticed occures only with 3rd party extentions and it was present since the beginning of joomla, but most of the extentions got an ability to set an individual Itemid. So maby try to add this in module's code manualy. Probably somewhere in layout.parts.php file.

I know the feeling, they really do keep us young...;)

I am still having issues with the images, the plugin seems to be the problem but when I disable it, nothing happens. When I try to go into the plugin to see if there is any parameters I get an error "500 error loading form file". I don't want to uninstall this because I would like to get it working. Any suggestions on why this plugin is throwing these errors?

Really my biggest issue with it is that I cannot apply a margin to get the text to move away from the image. Other than that I am very happy with it. Now I know I can go in and fix this by adding the margin to the gk.stuff.css (div.gkImgBorderBottom). However I only want to apply a margin either left or right based on the image location.

OK so I have tried everything I can think of to make this work and nothing is working right. Even with the plugin disabled the template insists on applying a background. That caption style is preventing me from applying a margin, so how do I completely remove the caption and give me the control back to style the images the way I need to?
