Menu - End Level Doesn't appear to work

I've got the latest version of the template and in the template manager for the menu settings, I've set up a Dropline Menu and want only the first child level below the main menu to appear. For this I set the End Level to 1, and it does not work, the other child levels still appear. I've set the end level at 1, 0, 2, -2 and none of these inhibit the other levels.

What am I missing?
