Image borders not displaying

I installed this template onto an existing site and all works except that the photoslide component does not display the angled background edges like in the demo. please explain how i can achieve this same effect?

There's a small plugin for it in the rest files, but photoslide does display it because there's a mod_photoslide in the HTML folder. This one doesn't work for me, so you can try to disable it (just rename it) and see what the effect is.
