Installation Question

I've gone through the manual installation process and everything appears to be working fine. I'm glad I went through the pocess because I've learned a lot about the template and how the various modules work. But (not surprisingly) the format and appearance is not exactly like the demo. The module positions, paramenters, etc. are not the same as the demo. I'd like to get the appearance to look like the demo. So my question is...

Could I now go back and install the quickstart version over the top of what I now have? I'm not concerned with any content on my site at all. I just want my "starting point" to be the demo version, with all the module positions, etc. just like in the demo.

(I'm hoping to work on this over the Thanksgiving weekend. So if there is any chance of getting me a quick answer today, I would be forever thankful!! )
