How do I add a tag to the HEAD section?

Hi!

I´m a little confused with the following issue.

I´m using the World News II template and Joomla 2.5.6 on a website.

I would like to use this website for affiliate purposes, and in order to do that I have to verify my website by placing an extra Tag in the HEAD section.

I don´t find anywhere in Joomla 2.5.6 where I can do this (I think I have clicked everywhere in the administrator view).

Previously in Joomla 1.5.xx I think I was able to do this.

I have tried to google for tips, but the only thing I find is to modify a PHP file.

So my question is:
1. Is it possible to add a tag to the head section in Joomla 2.5.6 and how do I do it.
2. Do I need to modify a .php file and then upload the .php file with FTP? (Which file is it in that case?

I am not a programmer and very inexperiensed with .php and using FTP, so if you could describe this as if you were talking to a small child or your grandmother that would be perfect:-)

You need to download file head.php from template/layout/blocks directory, edit and upload again. Just like every file modification via ftp.

Guess that I better learn php programming then.

It is really not hard issue, if you open file you will see some declarations there, then just copy part of code and change URL or values to your own ones.
