2013 Year in Review

With the New Year celebrations fading away, now is the time to take stock and reflect on the achievements and challenges of the past year before triumphantly marching forward into the brave new world of 2014.

There has been quite a lot going on at GavickPro; read all about it below:

  1. 2013 saw the release of 12 GavickPro Joomla! templates. We’ve aimed to diversify our content with support for K2, JomSocial and VirtueMart, and more to come. We’ve also been hard at work updating our templates first to Joomla! 3.1, which released in April 2013, and then to 3.2, which followed six months later.

  2. The past year also saw greater integration for WordPress on our site, with a colossal 16 themes released over the last 12 months. All this was despite the challenges raised by the frequent updates to WordPress; versions 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8 of WordPress released in 2013, and we kept our themes updated through them all.

  3. Although we only released one new and exclusive extension in 2013, we made it a special one. Grid GK creates a modern metro-style layout for your website and it’s brought itself a lot of positive attention for its power and up-to-date functionality. All our existing extensions have been updated for Joomla! 3.1/3.2 also; it’s been a busy year for updates here at GavickPro!

  4. We continue to grow and develop; we welcomed 4 outstanding new team members in the past year. Our Presale and Account teams have been bolstered with the addition of Alicja and Lee, who sit poised at their stations ready to answer your queries through email, chat and even the good-old telephone! Providing additional expertise to our development team is Piotrek, who handles the creation and implementation of our WordPress themes and plugins. Last, but by no means least, we have Marcin, who joins the other moderators on our support forum to help you get the best from our templates and themes.

  5. Our online documentation received a lot of attention throughout the year. The sections have been rebuilt to make finding the specific article you need even easier, and we’ve got more good news; detailed configuration screenshots have beed added for Joomla! as well as for WordPress so you can see at a glance the configuration of all our components and modules.

  6. We don’t like to rest on our laurels, so we took part in many important social events in the Web Development world. We were a main sponsor for Joomla! Day Poland, and a Gold sponsor at the WordCamp conference. We also got active at some smaller WordUp meetings, and hosted lectures on several subjects connected with Joomla! and WordPress. Take a look at the photos and additional information from these events below.

  7. Another important and fruitful event was Adobe Creative Days, which took place in Warsaw and was dedicated to several interesting web development solutions. We got to meet lots of amusing yet passionate people, and learnt all about the new line of Adobe products. One of them, Cloud, has been integrated with our system.

  8. The last, and perhaps biggest piece of news, was the complete overhaul of our website. We’ve changed our server to provide even faster service, and now our customers in Australia, Asia and South America get to enjoy reduced loading times. We are still working on our website and making improvements, but we hope that the new layout suits your preferences!

All in all, a very busy and productive year! Yet despite our successes, we still have a lot of plans for the next 365 days and we are looking forward to making them a reality; as always, we’ll keep you posted of our ideas and developments in our future posts.

JOOMLA DAY POLAND

The beginning of the autumn was a very active time for us when it came to conferences. A week after WordCamp, Joomla! fans met in Łódź at the biggest event in Poland devoted to the Joomla! CMS.

The event was very successful, and our company made a significant contribution to this success – both on the financial side as the main sponsor, and from the organizational – our own Dziudek was among the many organizers of this conference.

Our team conducted four lectures: two related to our products – Gavern Framework and News Show Pro GK5, and two related to the topics of programming – LESS language and Responsive Web Design.

We had the opportunity to meet personally with many of our customers, who spoke very positively about our products and gave us many helpful suggestions for improving our extensions that will be included in future versions of our extensions for Joomla!; this was for us the most valuable part of the meetings.

Thanks to this great event, we have received a huge boost of positive energy that will lead to the creation of even better and more interesting Joomla! products.

WordCamp

Again in 2013, we sponsored the biggest event of the Polish WordPress community – WordCamp in Wroclaw. The event itself was very well prepared and had a high level of organization and substance.

We had two GavickPro representatives In Wroclaw: Tomasz Dziuda and Paweł Frankowski. Dziudek had the honor of beginning the first day of the conference with his lecture. In his presentation titled “Free is not Dead”, he presented our latest free plugins for WordPress: GK News Show Pro, Tabs GK and GK LESS. In addition, participants of WordCamp in Wroclaw were the first to find out our plans for version 2.0 of our GavernWP framework and how our free theme Meet GavernWP will look once this latest version releases.

We prepared sets of branded merchandise and discounts for our themes for the WordCamp participants as a fitting tribute to the people who actively participate in the Polish WordPress community.

It’s a simple pleasure to be among many dedicated and often hilarious people from the WordPress community, sharing our knowledge and experiences to build trust and improve what we have to offer. We do hope that we will have opportunity to take part in many others events devoted to this CMS in the coming year.
