Hey guys, I have site run Joomla2 and k2. Site had been growing from J1 through J1.5, then 2.5 and now it doesn't go "One click migration" due to accumulated generational bugs. So, I am quite ready to do the manual trasfer of all the articles (cleaning out all the debries along the way). And the question is: should I even worry about k2 these days? it used to be that k2 gave me flexibility, but these days all those features seem to be integrated into Joomla itself, so? Any word of wisdom on this?
Thanks.

Hi

This is a very good question :) But I still think I would use K2. I've just used to that and know all its functions and capabilities. So I believe it's my personal decision only.

My main reason for this question is the bug I couldn't find answer to: Catpcha - If I turn it on in k2 and J itself, it ceases to work (captcha) altogether.
If I turn it off in J - bots send spam through contact form. If I turn it off in k2 - bots spam in comments.

So it seems like either or. Maybe there's solution to this dilemma?

Hi

Thank You for this information. There is couple of reports of not working captcha and I have not thought of that. I bet this is something that can be fixed. I just need to find an example project with this problem to show it to programmers.

Hi

Sorry for late answer. I lost my computer and could not answer sooner.

Programmers has asked me if disabling our template and using default joomla template as Protostart for example has this issue, because if not than they suggest to report it on K2 forum.
Can You please make this test for me ?

Nah, template ain't the issue. It's been known to K2 community, but they don't wanna fix it. That why I am asking if there's still any reason for using K2...

The only reason I use K2 is for the image re-sizing, which is great for users. My clients always try to upload gigantic or wrong size images, but K2 fixes it for them. Also the gallery feature with sigpro installed is very easy for a client to use.
But Joomla has gone one better than K2 with the article versioning.
If there was a good extension to add the automatic image sizing to Joomla then I would stop using K2. Maybe I should look for that extension...

Hi

I haven't heard about such extension, but surely K2 makes it easier here, but as always I had a client complaining about the enormous number of images in media folder with His 40.000 articles website :)

Thank You for the link about recaptcha, unfortunately I'm not a member so cannot see it :(

If you're at all interested, here's the prinout of that thread. They marked it "Solved", while it actually should've be marked "Worked Around" or "Waggabound" ))) The issue is NOT solved.

Hi

I think that the real problem is using more than one instance of reCaptcha. Same problem was reported with contact component reCaptcha and our contact plugin. I'll talk about that to programmers, maybe they will say something more.

Hi

Unfortunately they do not have time to investigate it for other developers ;/ That's a pity, but I think someone will figure it out soon. At least I hope so.

I have the same problem with reCaptcha in articles, users can't comment because reCaptcha is not showing (in contact form everything is working right). I have tried any solution that I found in searches but nothing work for me.
Here there is my site in different versions and the team could investigate about the problem. I think is something about template... but I'm not a programmer
This is my live site with GK Fashion template, check at the bottom of the page, in comment section, there isn't reCaptcha:
J! 3.4.1 and Fashion 3.11.1.
http://ciaoroma.ws/matrimoni/incredibile-cerimonia-simbolica-nella-costiera-amalfitana-tra-tatyana-aleksandr.html
This is my TEST site with Protostar template, check at the bottom of the page, in comment section, here there is reCaptcha:
J! 3.4.1 and Protostar lastest in the J! package.
ciaoroma.ws/TEST/matrimoni/incredibile-cerimonia-simbolica-nella-costiera-amalfitana-tra-tatyana-aleksandr.html

In both links is the same site with the same module and plugin, the difference is only the template used.
For what I could understand, in the live site is missed to load the reCaptcha class... anybody know why?

Hi

That's interesting. I've been doing the same test, but by just simply changing the template to protostar in the same site. It's not working then. Please send me an access to both site's joomla panel and ftp so I'll see what is the difference between then. You may be into something.

 Eureka: solution found in my photoraphy site!!!
Problem was in:
Extensions -> Template Manager -> gk_fashion (my default template) -> Advanced settings = "JavaScript compression"
I don't remember when, maybe after some test with PageSpeed Insights last month... I had enabled it. I switched to Disabled and now reCaptcha work in K2 articles!!!
Check at the bottom of this link:
http://ciaoroma.ws/matrimoni/cerimonia-simbolica-in-costume-nella-laguna-di-venezia-tra-lubov-aleksandr.html
So you can ignore my private message that I sent. Thanks so much for your support, I appreciate any words of GK team :)

P.S.: now I must learn how to switch from reCaptcha v1 in K2 to reCaptcha v2

Hi

Ok. Great to hear that, but it does not work in every case. For example mine copy never have JS compression activated, but I believe the newest GK Contact plugin update made using new recaptcha possible, have not tested it against K2, but it's worth trying.

How do I go about updating this plugin? It's not a template and it's not a mod, so need more info.

Which one? I went into Quark - it doesn't have that plugin, and it's not included in rest_files for anything all the way down to University - there it's from April 2014 - year old...

Honestly, I think that more to the solution in my case was updating reCaptcha itself to the new API. But it all went together with installing plugin plg_gkcontact_steakhouse_FOR_NEW_RECAPTCHA.zip to the site (which lead me to finally get new API keys from Google and when I did this - all Captcha's began to work (I do have about five diffirent componentcs that use it and because of K2 none did work. Now it all seems to be fine...

Hi

Yes, this plg_gkcontact_steakhouse_FOR_NEW_RECAPTCHA.zip has the newest recaptcha code in it, so this has to work. It can be found in rest_files package for steakhouse.
