You didn't fully understand me, or my answer was too short.
All GK templates are built on Gavern framework.
MeetGavern template is a part of "GK historical experiment", so it's different story.
So my last answer was about Technews (!)

do whatever what you need to do. Besides it's your site.
But I suggest to use plugin which allows you do add custom code, not edit core template files (think about future updates)
