Log in button doesn't update correctly once logged in

Hello.

I am having issues with the login button on the theme not updating once a user logs in.
The functionality is correct (i.e.: the form when you click on in show the register/log in form or the log out form correctly) but the text on the menu item never changes from 'Log in'

Can someone point me in the correct direction as to why this may be happening?

It's wordpress menu item, so described feature is not possible by default.

Please try to use i.e. this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/if-menu/

and add additional menu item (with "Log out" label) and condition (only when user is logged in)
