Login Module is displayed even after I have disabled it

So this is a weird problem,

I have disabled the login module in the joomla backend, yet the module is visible in the front end (beside the menu, which is its usual position)
The weird thing is that instead of the AJAX pop up it is now linked to the login page.

Please let me know how do i fix this, my site will not require the users to sign in so, I dont need login at all.
