Hi guys,

I've just installed your simplicity wordpress theme and having trouble getting it configured. I think the easiest thing is for me to just set it up exactly like you have in your demo, then edit it accordingly from that.

I've looked here:

http://www.gavick.com/documentation/wor ... iguration/

But the link that says it has a file for the exported settings to import doesn't seem to work? I click it and it just comes up with a page of text.

Any ideas on how I can just install the pre-set theme exactly how it is in your demo?

Many thanks!

Hi,

This JSON file (blank page with text) is working properly, you have to save it and import, but it's only for Theme settings.
You probably installed only theme files, install quicsktart and then your website should looks exactly like the demo site without any additionall modifications.

Please check these articles:

Thanks for the reply Piotr - I already have wordpress installed though, so how do I use quickstart in this instance? The step by step is only provided for local host which I'm not doing.

The opening words say:

Now, you have a folder with files which can be uploaded to your server or moved to the directory on the localhost.

If you have moved the files to the proper place, you can open your browser and navigate to the proper website – in our case, we have moved the directory content to the wp_qi directory on our localhost server: http://127.0.0.1:8080/wp_qi. After opening a website where we have our installation, you should see the following message:

It doesn't say where to upload them to my server though if I'm not doing local host and I already have wordpress installed?

Yes, because if you already have wordpress installed, you can't install a quickstart package. (quickstart is a wordpress instance with our theme, content, configuration included).

If you are developing a new website, the easiest way is to remove existing WP installation and install a quickstart. If you don't want to do that, you have to install only theme files and then check this theme documentation:
http://www.gavick.com/documentation/wor ... iguration/ (Only widgets you have to set manually)

If you don't want to do it manually, you can simply install a quickstart on your localhost, then export widgets data using this plugin: http://www.gavick.com/documentation/wor ... -exporter/ and import it in your website.

Ok thanks, I think I'm getting somewhere now!

One question - how do I change the background image that appears in the background of the email sign up header widget, with the woman and a laptop? I can't seem to find it in the documentation.

You have to replace image file from Simplicity/images/header.jpg (remember to replace also header_mobile.jpg and header_tablet.jpg - responsive versions of the header image).

Is there a simple xml file to import the demo content without having to re-install wordpress? Most theme developers now provide demo content that way. I think that an entire re-install of wordpress is necessary.

Hi,

The XML (WXR) files with content are available here: http://www.gavick.com/documentation/wor ... wxr-files/

But please remember that a lot of elements are based on widgets and widgets should be configured manually, because there is no way to export widget settings an map it on the existing WordPress installation.
