Hello,

so I have a problem (actually a few but I do hope most of them will go away if I get this problem done). I got a site that I should get in other, because the last administrator (and the guy who actually made the site) made a poor job of finishing it like the customer wanted. So I took over and saw that some stuff is not working properly (like coupons not working, stretching images on mobile and so on). Then I saw that the template is out of date (3.6.1). Ok so I want to update the template, but not on the live site, because I don't know what could happen.

So I make a local installation and try it here. Well the site get's f***** up pretty badly. The whole template gets back to the original template of bikestore. I installed the template via the extension manager or is there anyother way to update the template without loosing the settings I have now?

So I do hope you can help me with that. I just hope most of the problems get fixed that way, so that I won't need to bother you with my problems.

Thank you very much for your help.

With kind regards

It should keep the settings but if it doesn't, you can try to save configuration and load it after update.
Also - if the template is very old, configuration might change and only manual configuration might bring it back.
But what is more probably - previous administrator might done some local file editings which will be lost after update. But you can start from checking if there are any changes in override.css.

Thanks for the reply. I tried my luck in the meantime with overwriting stuff from the old template. The things I copy/pasted are the css, css_noprefix and the layouts folder. Now the front page looks how it should look. But the problems are the product description page and the registration page.

The registration page is missing the registration form while the product description page are messy as hell. Could you perhaps tell me which files are responisble for those pages?

Thank you very much for your help.

I can't even guess what you did and where you are at. The only suggestion would be to copy files and folders one by one to find whats missing.

Ok so I did get now the registration page working. I just updated the tables in virtuemart (I hope this is the only thing I did for that). The problem with the product description page altough still stays the same.

I tried copy/pasting the folder html/com_virtuemart/productdetails from my old installation to the new one with the updated template and all I get, if I go to a product, is a blank white page. And I just don't know how to solve that. Any tips on that one?

Thanks in advance. With kind regards.

Yeah, you can try to enable error reporting. Probably in old files are php functions that doesn't work in new Joomla anymore.

Error reporting did nothing for me :/. Is it bad if I stay at the version of the template the site is now? I mean are there any security risks or so?

The only thing I would need to fix somehow are that coupon's and quantity changes in the cart are not working at all (is that somehow possible to fix) and that pictures on mobile view are screwed, they are really stretched.

If there are no sequrity issues those are the only things I would need to fix for now. So if you could help me somehow? I don't think that I am able to update the template as it is now.

Thank you very much for your help.

Actually you can stick with old one, template itself should not have any security risks - it's more on the Joomla side.
If it goest to customising and fixing old template - sorry but we don't provide such support :(.

Only if you implement it by yourself or hire Joomla specialist who could fix that for you.

Oh I see.

Another question. If I can get the upgrade of the template to work, so that I am at the latest version of your template, could you then help me with some other stuff I would like to implement? Or would I still need to get a specialist for that?

Oh I see, thank you very much for the answer.

I got my template to the latest version and got the coupons working. The stretched images are also kinda working now. But I have another problem. On the cart window the comment section, where the customers can write someting, is not working. I can' write anything there.

Any idea why that could be? Is it a joomla, virtuemart or bikestore problem?

Thank you for your help.

I don't know what plugins you have installed there, but something putted above code to body element:
Code: Select all
setInterval('window.clipboardData.clearData()',20)

which is running every 20ms and causes a lot of problems.

Yeah I have no idea what the guy before me did ...

The thing is, I tried the page now in chrome and although the comment section is not as it should be, it does work.

So do you think that a plugin is making all these problems and that is the reason the site is not working properly?

I would start from figuring out why javascript throws so many errors.

Ok, so I looked up what is causing those errors. It is an anti-copy plugin which is installed on the site. I disabled it and the errors are gone, but the problem with the comment section remains.

I can write something if I am on chrome, but not if I am on firefox. So there has to be a problem elsewhere.

Seems like a bug in our template.
I'll post this info to our devteam and write back as soon as I get an answer.

Meanwhile, Please edit: /templates/gk_bikestore/css/override.css and add at its end:
Code: Select all
.customer-comment textarea {padding: 0px;}

Remember to enable "CSS override" in template settings - advanced section.

Ok it works now on firefox.

Just a question. If I try to resize the box I can't go horizontal only vertical. Any idea why that is?

The main problem was because of changes you did to joomla.css file - there are css declarations that simply should not be there. Please revert those files to original state and check if problem exist. Also original problem wouldn't be there if the files would not be modified.

Hello,

me again. I have a question and I do hope you could help me. I got myself a new search module. Now the thing is that the module should autosuggest keywords when the user is typing them but this does not happen. I had previously also an ajax search module which also didn't do that.

Now my question is, is that a template problem? Or is a module/component causing these problems?

Thank you for your help and answer.

With kind regards.

The simplest way to check would be to switch to default Beeze/Protostar to verify.

Well it does not seem that the template is the problem.

Back to the drawing board I guess.

Hello me again. I have a question again. In my cart the price for a single product is not showing. It shows only the price at the end (if I have only one same product it show that price, if I put 3 same products inside it shows the sum of those).

Here is the picture to better see what I mean.

I do hope you know what the problem here may be. Thank you in advance.

Hello,

for my previous problem. It seems that there is a problem with my template only, because it shows as it should on your demo page. So could you just say where I could look up for the problem with that?

I also have a different problem. The previous designer has made some changes to your template and now I can't show the Base price with Tax and Final salesprice how I want. It looks like this: Image
So what I would like is, that the Base price is above the Final price. I would also like that it says Cena: 179,95 and then Cena s popustom: 89,95. I would also like that both are the same size. And that the base price has a strikethrough.
Where can I change this stuff and how can I change that?

Thank you very much for the help.
