Problem with Where Images are Stored for K2 Items

I'm having a problem assigning images at the K2 Category and K2 Item levels.

When trying to assign an image that's been uploaded to the Media Manager by browsing to it on the server, then attempting to save the Item, it won't. In fact, it gets hung up on the .php script page and crashes out.

If I assign an image that's stored locally, it gets uploaded to the template cache rather than an accessible media folder.

Please advise on what to do/if the problem is known, etc.

Hi,
you could have problem with folder rights?
I didn't saw your errors message so I only guess.

Image in K2 are stored in two folders:
/media/k2/items/cache (all generated sizes)
/media/k2/items/src (original image)

Make them 777

p.s.
Update you K2 component to latest version if you use old one.
