bp funtion get bp_core_remove_nav_item() not working

I'm a newbie and want to remove some tabs in the (sub)navigation of BP. I read about to put this functions.php or bp-custom.php
But I could not get it work. Is it possble GavickPro uses another mechanism to show the tabs the BP Groups page?
Could someone give me any help.

Hi,

You should add your own functions into Theme/gavern/user.functions.php file. (BP functionality is not changed in our themes, so your function should works properly). If it's not working properly, please check other default themes, like twenty thirteen or default BP theme.

I tried to use bp_current_group_slug(), but it didn't work, at my version (BP v1.9.2)
Instead of the function I'm using now $bp->groups->current_group->slug.
This works :-)

So it has nothing to do with the theme at all.
