VM mini cart

Getting my site, but I'm stuck. Therefore,I installed a quick start. I compared the settings with mine site. Essentially, all the same. But if I click on "add to cart", mini cart lightbox does not come up. Skip straight to the checkout page. And also bring up the system message I don't know off.
Where to set the ajax cart? And where to turn off the system message?
