When I installed "therealdesign" template the first, second, and third time successfully but no pages or links worked, I checked around and found out that when I UNCHECKED the "Search Engine Friendly URLs" button in the SEO section of the Global Configuration everything worked!

Great - FIRST QUESTION: WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
SECOND QUESTION: HOW DO I FIX THIS SO I CAN USE THE FEATURE?

I don't want my pages having a mess of script in the titles...I want that feature to work; so what can I do to
alleviate the problem? SEO is extremely important and imperative to this site.

Hi

My first guess would be that You did not renamed file htaccess.txt to .htaccess in joomla root folder or Your server is not supporting mod_rewrite.

Is this something I should be doing on every install of a Gavick Template?

Hi

This should be done on every installation of joomla itself. This has nothing to do with a template.
