Pinterest-format module linking to an external URL?

What I'd really like to have would be a module with a Pinterest-style layout -- full-width image with padded text -- with animated hover on the image, linking in this case to an arbitrary external URL. Is there already something like that available somewhere in Music Free? If not, would I create a variant of one of the existing module layouts, build a module type from scratch, or import a module type from somewhere?

This might be basic stuff, but I'm starting at a pretty basic level.

Oh, and if it isn't obvious, pulling the image, text and URL from an article, K2 item or whatever.
